PYONGYANG – Kim Jong-Un, dictator of North Korea, chose New Year’s day to speak for the first time publicly about the execution of his uncle Jang Song-thaek in December 2013.
The dictator said on state TV that the execution was like “getting rid of garbage inside the party” and stated that “the Communist Party is now 100 times stronger” since he eliminated the trader.
Jang was second man in command of the North Korean regime, directly below Kim Jong-Un. For still inexplicable reason, he suddenly fell out of grace mid-December and was arrested during a gathering of party leaders.
Experts believe that Jang, who was married to the sister of Kim Jong-il, Kim Jong-Un’s dad who died in 2011, became the victim of an internal power struggle. Since Kim Jong-il’s death, Jang was assigned as the guardian of Kim Jong-Un.
North Korea’s dictator also said in his speech that he would like to improve the country’s relationship with South Korea in the coming year but warned that a new war on Pyongyang would lead to a nuclear disaster that would also affect the United States; South Korea’s strongest ally.
North and South Korea are officially still in war, despite a cease arms that was mutually agreed upon in 1953. Both countries never signed a peace treaty with each other.
The United States has 28,500 soldiers stationed in South Korea, near the border of North Korea, who are there to prevent another war from erupting.
